What is MARG Network?
MARG Network is a network of individuals united around a shared love and commitment to Jesus, biblical faithfulness, and Hindu people. The individuals within our network come from many different backgrounds, locations, and experiences.
The word marg (pronounced as “marg”, the common slang abbreviation of the margarita drink) is a Sanskrit word that means “path”. Many Hindu people refer to their spiritual journey as a marg, or path, towards God.
MARG Network is a resource for disciples of Jesus who want to walk alongside Hindu communities, including Hindu communities around the world (96% of the world’s Hindus live in India) and the Hindu diaspora in North America.
We offer:
- Regular blog articles on relevant topics
- Resources for continued learning including papers, reading lists, and small group discussion materials
- On-site workshops for groups who want to deepen their ability to interact in a mutually beneficial way with Hindus
- Yearly events to gather and learn together
Throughout our network and on this website, we frequently refer to the word “alongsider”. We have adopted the term ‘alongsider’ to describe someone who wants to help Hindus explore what devotion to Jesus means. What is an alongsider? Click here to read.
Because of our mutual interests in Jesus and Hindu people and the diversity of our members, we strive to model the same attitudes that we have valued since the founding of our network over 25 years ago. Particularly, we try to demonstrate:
- biblical trust in Muktidata Yeshu (literally, “Giver of Salvation Jesus”),
- humility towards all people, and especially towards Hindu people,
- warm camaraderie for other followers of Jesus walking this same path of discipleship amidst Hindu communities.
We ask that people in our network be aware of, and sensitive to, other people who may hold different conclusions on a wide variety of issues. We have never mandated agreement with a set of principles to participate within our network. MARG has no statement of faith but rather some common principles best seen in this article, this article, and this article.
The articles published on MARG Network are the personal views of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of the network.
